A Laurel, Del., native, he was a son of Samuel Edward and Mrs. Elizabeth Helen Hitch Wiley and lived in Norfolk and Portsmouth most of his life. He was a World War I veteran and owned and operated Wiley Paint Co. several years before his retirement. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Pauline Timberlake Wiley of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. J. Williamson Brown Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. William Rush White of Takoma Park, Md.; two brothers, Edward Hitch Wiley and John Lewis Wiley of Norfolk; and a grandson. The body was taken to Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth, where a funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. by the Rev. Walter R. Earl, associate pastor of Park Place Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
