A native of Princess Anne County, he was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, a 20-year retired employe of Dixie Jute Bagging Co., and a Navy veteran of World War I. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Vera Bowman of Norfolk, and Mrs. Doris Mitchell of Philadelphia, Pa.; and two sons, Edward H. Wiley and Clyde L. Wiley of Norfolk. The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service, Norfolk.
