Norfolk Virginian Sunday Dec. 29, 1895
Mr. James Wilkins, a well-known citizen, died at his son's residence on Berkley 
avenue yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock.

The funeral services of Mr. James Wilkins, who died Saturday at his home on 
Berkley avenue, were held Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at his late 
residence, and were conducted by Rev. R.M. Chandler, pastor of Chestnut Street 
M.E. Church.  A large number of friends of the deceased assembled to pay their 
last sad tribute of respect.  At the close of the services the remains were laid 
to rest in Magnolia Cemetery.  The following gentlemen acted as pall-bearers:  
Messrs. John A. Morgan, George H. Lacy, Albert Pariott, O.M. Lynch, Niemeyer 
Show Camp, C.V.; R.A. Roach, W.A. Brown, citizens.
