Mr. Wilkins, a native of Norfolk, was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 38 years of service. He was a member of Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Norfolk. He was founder of the Mighty Horsemen Club, and he was a saxophone player who trained and played under the great Professor Bailey. He played in the Clinton Turner Band, the Ben Jones Band and the United States Army Band. He is survived by his wife, Magnolia B. Wilkins; a daughter, Bessie Holland of Florida; a sister, Thelma Barge of Richmond; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two god-children, Monica and Marcus Sample of Chesapeake. A funeral will be held on March 25 at noon at Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, Father Walter Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . There will be a wake on Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Hale Funeral Home chapel. Family and Friends will assemble at the residence on Monday at 11 a.m. for the funeral procession.
