Norfolk Virginian Pilot April 11, 1940 

Joseph W.S. Wilkinson, aged 61, died at a local hospital Tuesday night at 11:10 
o'clock after a long illness. He was the son of the late Charles W.S. and Mrs. 
Sarah F. Wilkinson and a native and life long resident of Norfolk. Surviving him  
are two sisters, Mrs. E.W. Spann and Mrs. L.C. Wilson; three brothers, A.S., 
C.B. and Irvin Wilkinson; a half brother, J.A. Anderson and a number of nieces 
and nephews, all of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the 
funeral chapel of James V. Derry, Colley and Harrington Avenues. The Rev. 
Garland E. Hopkins, pastor of LeKies Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
