Norfolk Virginian Pilot October 11, 1938

Mrs. Ruth Shumadine Williams, aged 81, widow of Lloyd L. Williams, died at the 
residence of her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Edwards, 1312 DeBree Avenue, yesterday 
morning at 11:40 o'clock after a long illness. She was a native and lifelong 
resident of Norfolk. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Edwards are two daughters, 
Mrs. A.G. Davis, of Buckingham County, Mo. and Mrs. W.K. Deal, of Washington; 
one son, Vance N. Williams, of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-
grandchildren; two brothers, George and Lloyd L. Shumadine and several nieces 
and nephews, all of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Derry Funeral Chapel 1920 Colley 
Avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
