George W. Williams - Funeral services were held for Mr. Williams of 1236
Armstrong street at the First Baptist Church Sunday, Aug. 21. Mr. Armstrong died
Aug. 17 after a few months of ailing. He was 76 years old.

A native of Norfolk, he had spent his entire life here. Mr. Williams was very
active in religious, civic and fraternal groups of the city. He was one of the
founders and organizers of Tabernacle Baptist Church which was started about 29
years ago.

During these years he served as chairman of the deacon board, a trustee and in
many other church offices.

The Rev. I. W. Penn, pastor of Tabernacle Church, officiated at the funeral with
the Revs. V. J. Parker, W. Williamson, S. Knight, and W. H. Evans officiating.

Solos were rendered by Miss Rachel Nowlin and Mrs. Nancy Patterson.
