Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Thursday January 31, 1935
Capt. William Thomas Williams, aged 73 years, son of James and Sarah Greene 
Williams, died at his residence, 521 Pennsylvania avenue, Colonial Place, 
yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock.  Captain Williams was a native of 
Mathews County and a resident of Norfolk for the past 52 years.  He was a 
member of Epworth Methodist Episcopal Church, of the Wesleymen's Bible 
Class, of Washington Lodge No. 4, I.O.O.F. and of Massasoit Tribe No. 77, 
Improved Order of Red Men.
For the past 20 years Captain Williams was a marine surveyor and prior to 
that time was superintendent of the floating equipment for the Norfolk 
Southern Railroad.  He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Walter B. Murray; 
two sons, Dr. Wesley L. Williams and Frank E. Williams, all of Norfolk; two 
sisters, Mrs. Georgia Evans, of Mathews County and Mrs. Percy Tucker, of 
Baltimore; a brother, Walter J. Williams, of Norfolk and three 
grandchildren, Mary Lucile Murray, Frank E. Williams, Jr. and Mary Campbell 
Williams.
The body will be taken from H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East 
Freemason street, to Epworth Methodist Episcopal Church for services 
Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Thomas A. Smoot, D.D., the 
pastor, and the Rev. F.L. Wells, D.D., pastor of Park Place Methodist 
Episcopal Church, officiating.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
