R. H. Bowling officiating. The deceased had been a member of this church for nearly a quarter of a century. The Rev. D. F. Gladney, pastor of Rehoboth AME Church of Deep Creek, the church of the deceased’s early years, and where one of his brothers, Wayman A. Williams and family are at present active members, also took part in the services. Prior to his fatal illness Mr. Williams had been employed as a custodian at the USO Center on Smith street. Continued declining health forced him to relinquish this job last November. He was a native of Deep Creek, Norfolk County, VA, and the son of the late Peter and Harriett A. Williams. Immediate survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lizzie Hughes Williams; three brothers, Clifton L. and the Rev. J. R. Williams of Norfolk, and Wayman A. of Deep Creek; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Williams West of Truxton, Portsmouth, all of whom were at the bier. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
