He had been in failing health for about two years. He was critically ill for about two weeks. Funeral services were held at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rector, Dr. Richard B. Martin officiating. A native of Hamilton, NC, Mr. Williams had resided in Norfolk about 50 years. He was a member of Grace Church for a number of years. He was a member of Eureka Lodge. He drove a taxi from Pennsylvania Railroad station for 28 years. He was one of the early colored taxi operators in Norfolk. The pallbearers werer Jesse Williams, Quincy Harris, Reuben Robinson, E. W. Carter, Walter Ralph and Willie Lewis. Mr. Williams is survived by two granddaughters, Mrs. Alda W. Hicks and Mrs. Jean W. White; three great grandchildren and other relatives. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
