Norfolk - A funeral service for the Rev. Werth W. Williams of 800 Whitehead 
street was held May 26 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  The Rev. John M. Alexander 
officiated.

A native of Birmingham, AL, he was the husband of Mrs. Johnnie U. Williams and a 
son of the late Benjamin and Mrs. Lizzie Davenport Williams.

Rev. Williams was superintendent of the Sunday School of Mt. Zion Baptist Church 
and a district deputy of Ideal Lodge.  He was retired from a laundry firm.

Besides his widow, surviving are four sons, Gleason Williams and Willie Williams 
of Norfolk, Earnest Williams of Chesapeake, and Acie Williams of Baltimore;  two 
daughters, Mrs. Veronica Gullette of the Bronx, NY, and Mrs. Marie Brown of Long 
Island, NY;  four brothers, the Rev. Daniel Williams of Norfolk, Jesse Williams 
and Robert Williams of Cleveland, and the Rev. Earnest Williams of Baltimore;  
two sisters, Mrs. Ophelia Williams and Mrs. Sophonia Vincent of Cleveland;  and   
nine grandchildren.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Chatman Funeral Home in charge.
