Norfolk - James Williams, a former Norfolkian who died Dec. 13 in Dade City, 
FL, received final rites here Thursday at Pretlow Funeral Home.

The Rev. W. B. Westbrook officiated at the service.  Burial was in Mt. Olive 
Cemetery.

An employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad for 35 years, Mr. Williams was a 
native of Washington, NC.

He was the son of John Williams and Mrs. Sarah Williams and husband of Mrs. 
Bettie Williams.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Rosa Trippe and Mrs. Elrell Williams 
of  Washington, NC,Mrs. Bettye Williams and Mrs. Ruth Cartwright of Norfolk, 
Mrs. Clara Wilson of Bridgeport CT, Mrs. Ina J. Taylor of Oak City, NC, and 
Mrs. Iris Sophia of New York;  two sons, Archie Williams of Portsmouth and 
James Williams Jr. of Washington, NC;  a sister, Mrs. Clarice Ellison of 
Washington;  and four brothers, T. C. and Samuel Williams of Norfolk, Elrell 
Williams of Washington, NC, and Love Williams of Oak City.
