A. Williams, of Berkley, Meets Death in Unusual Manner W.A. Williams, aged about 85, died early last night as the result of a broken neck sustained when he fell from the porch of his rooming house at 503 State Street, Berkley. Detective Leon Nowitzky, who investigated the death for the city coroner, learned that Mr. Williams was sitting in a swing on the porch when last seen alive. He had apparently walked to the railing of the porch, leaned over too far and lost his balance. His neck was broken when his head struck the pavement less than four feet below the railing. G.J. Brent, of Maple Avenue, Berkley, found the man lying in the street and called for assistance to take him indoors. He died a few minutes after being taken to his room. Williams has a sister living in Greenville, N.C., who was notified of the accidental death of her brother last night. The body was removed to the funeral parlors of E. Lee Cox, Berkley, pending instructions from Greenville.
