Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Wednesday May 10, 1933

Merritt Augustus Williams, aged 60 years, husband of Margaret Ellen 
Williams, and son of the late Thomas and Celestine Burfoot Williams, died 
yesterday morning at his summer residence Cottage Line, Ocean View. He was a 
native of Norfolk and a lifetime resident of this section He was a member of 
the Masonic Fraternity and Shrine. Besides his wife, Mrs. Margaret Ellen 
Williams, he is survived by two sons, B.L. and J.A. Williams; two step-sons, 
A.B. and F.V. Hopkins, and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at H.D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East 
Freemason Street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. E. P. 
Miner, rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be 
in Elmwood Cemetery.
