Williams, of Oakdale, was struck by the 7:30 o'clock p.m. west-bound Norfolk and Western passenger train at the South Norfolk crossing yesterday and instantly killed. Mr. Williams leaves a wife and five children, four daughters and one son, all residing in Oakdale. He was on his way home from E.H. Barnes' box factory at Gilmerton, where he was employed. Mr. Williams has a half brother, Mr. C.H. Carter, living near him. Mr. C.H. Carter is a cousin of Mrs. A.W. Culley, also of Oakdale. He came to the village about a year ago from near Virginian Beach and was sick very nearly all the summer. He was in the 45th year of his age and was known as a sober, industrious and honorable man. He was a former member of the Pythian Lodge of Brambleton Ward, Norfolk. Mr. Wm. J. Myers, of South Norfolk, said he was talking with him a short while before he met his death. The family of Mr. Williams is prostrated by the unexpected occurrence. Williams, who was killed by the Norfolk and Western passenger train at the South Norfolk crossing Saturday evening, was conducted from the family residence yesterday morning. Rev. Paul Bradly, pastor of the Liberty Street M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. S.S. Robinson, of the South Norfolk Baptist Church, officiated. The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
