She was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School and attended Old Dominion University where she played basketball. She enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, and entertaining family and friends, as well as collecting antiques. She turned this passion for antiques into successful businesses by first partnering in Chester House Antiques and then founding Ann Williams Antiques. She is predeceased by her parents, William Andrews Vanderberry and Nancy Lawler Vanderberry, and her daughter, Elizabeth Williams Gates. She is survived by her brother, Edward Lee Vanderberry (Elizabeth), and her children: Ann Kimberly Williams, Christopher Manley Williams (Jennifer), William Lee Williams (Melodie), Nancy Williams Allen (Edward), and Edward Fenton Williams (Margaret). She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Jason Gates, Weston Gates (Tiffany), Thomas Gates (Kellyn), William Aduja-Williams, Amber Aduja-Williams, Lee Ann Budge, Parker Allen, Mason Allen, Hudson Williams, Madeline Williams, and five great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by many close friends in Norfolk and extended family in Baltimore. The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to the staff of the memory care unit at The Ballentine in Norfolk and the Heartland hospice team for their personal and loving attention to our mother and grandmother. A funeral service will be held in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Saturday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m. Online condlences may be offered to the family at hdoliver.com.
