Norfolk - Margaret Genevieve Williams departed this life on Tuesday September 25, 
2012, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, after a long illness. She spent her 
final hours surrounded by family and friends. Margaret was born on November 10, 
1955, in Norfolk, Va. She was the youngest of eight children of James Williams and 
Mary Wilson Williams, who both preceded her in death. Margaret was a graduate of 
St Mary's Academy and Norfolk Catholic High School. She attended Norfolk State 
University and graduated from a local cosmetology school. Margaret worked for many 
years with the Naval Exchange at the Norfolk Naval Base. She is survived by two 
daughters, Jacqueline Ahmad, and Jenelle Williams, and her grandchildren, Julian, 
Jewel, Jelanie, William, Jala, James and Jacob. She is also survived by four 
brothers, Edward Williams (Gail), of Suffolk, Va, Charles Williams, Sam Williams 
(Mae), of Norfolk,Va, Jim Williams (Josephine), of Herndon, Va., and three 
sisters, Martha Jones, Helen Edwards, of Virginia Beach,Va, and Mary Staten 
(Harry), of Norfolk, Va. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews 
and friends. Margaret's family wishes to thank the staff of Sentara Norfolk 
General Hospital Heart Hospital for their dedicated services to her throughout the 
years. We especially wish to thank Dr. Keith Newby for his expertise, compassion 
and care throughout her illness. Margaret was beloved and will be greatly missed. 
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of St. Mary 
Catholic Church in Norfolk, Va., on Friday, October 5, at 12 noon. A wake will be 
held at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Chapel, on Thursday, October 4, at 7
