Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, January 24, 1996 
Grady C. Williams, of the 2800 block of Akron Place in Southeast Washington,
D.C., died Sunday in a Norfolk hospital. He was 56 years old.

Williams was an executive of the D.C. city government for 25 years. Serving
under three mayors, he began his career in the Office of Management and Budget.
Later he was chief of staff for the Department of Human Resources. Most recently
he was director of parking services in the Department of Transportation.
Williams served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, spending much of
his tour in Guantanemo Bay, Cuba, during the Castro Revolt. He was a native of
Norfolk, graduating with honors form both Booker T. Washington High School and
Norfolk State University. He received the Master of Public Administration degree
from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton
University. He also studied at Yale and Columbia.

He was predeceased by his father, John Williams and his brother, John P.
Williams Jr. Williams is survived by a daughter and son, Candice Williams and
Grady Jr. of Silver Spring, Md.; his mother, Florence Williams of Norfolk; six
brothers, Harry Williams of New York, Jerome Williams Esq. of Los Angeles,
Calif., Crosby Williams of Norfolk, Stanley Williams of Hillcrest Heights, Md.,
Winston Williams and Miles Williams, both of New York; four sisters including,
Barbara W. Jones of Norfolk, Constance Williams of Norfolk, Carolyn W. Sanderson
of Los Angeles and Denise Williams Nwannunu of Chicago; aunt, Mary Allen, Howard
Beach, N.Y.; uncle, Magistrate Jimmy Wilson, Greenville, S.C.; two
sisters-in-law, Vivian Williams of Norfolk, and Helen Williams of Los Angeles;
two brothers-in-law, Dr. Andrew K. Sanderson of Los Angeles and Dr. John
Nwannunu of Chicago. He also leaves behind dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews,
and many friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday by the Rev. G.G. Campbell
in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Burial is in Calvary
Cemetery . Viewing will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in church at noon Friday. The family will be at 509
Roland Drive. There will be a memorial service Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1996, at noon
in Upper Room Baptist Church, 60 Burns Place, N.E. Washington, D.C.
