Norfolk Virginian Wednesday May 9, 1877

Tuesday afternoon at 10 o'clock, Captain FREDERICK WILLIAMS, a native of 
Drochtersen, Kingdom of Hanover, Germany, aged 77 years. 
His funeral will take place TOMORROW (Thursday) AFTERNOON at 4 o'clock, from his 
late residence, No. 172 Bute Street.  The friends and acquaintances of the 
family are respectfully invited to attend without further notice.

Funeral of Captain Frederick Williams - The funeral of this well known and much 
lamented gentleman took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock from his 
residence, on Bute Street, and was attended by an immense concourse of the 
friends of the deceased and his family. The exceedingly impressive services were 
conducted by the Rev. Jno. B. Newton, of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and at 
their conclusion the remains, followed by a lengthy procession, were conveyed to 
Elmwood Cemetery, where they were solemnly interred, the following gentlemen 
acting as pallbearers: Capt. Jas Cornick, Capt. Jas. Ryan, Capt. R.P.T. Denson, 
C. Billups, Esq., C.H. Langley, Esq., S.S. Dann, Esq., C.J. Smith, Esq., and 
Geo. L. Crow, Esq.
