T. Phillip Williamson died at St. Vincent’s Hospital at 7:10 o’clock Saturday evening after an illness of about 36 hours of paralysis. Mr. Williamson was taken suddenly ill while eating his breakfast Friday morning relapsing soon after into and unconscious condition from which he never rallied. He was carried to St. Vincent’s Hospital about 8:20 o’clock Friday night where his physicians, Drs. Meredith and Funcron did everything possible to restore him consciousness, but their efforts proved unavailing and he passed away at the hour named. His wife and son were at the Blue Ridge Sulphur Springs were telegraphed for as soon as it was learned that Mr. Williamson was alarming ill. They arrived here yesterday morning saddened indeed to know that the husband and father had died before they reached the city. The deceased was in the 40th year of his age and was born in Norfolk. He was the son of the late Henry and Mary E. Williamson, of this city, were the deceased had resided all of his life and where he was widely known and universally esteemed as a young man of splendid character. For a number of years Mr. Williamson was connected with the Norfolk Public Ledger and when the two papers the Ledger and Dispatch were consolidated he continued with it for some time. Later he was connected himself with the real estate and insurance firm of Thomson and Etheridge, in whose employ he was at the time of his death and by whom he was held in the highest esteem for his integrity. He is survived by a widow and one son, a brother, George Williamson of Norfolk, and a sister Mrs. Upton, wife of the Rev. Dr. Upton, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Brooklyn, N.C. The funeral will be held from his late residence, 212 Clay Avenue, Brambleton, at 11 o’clock this morning and will be conducted by the Rev. George Wesley Jones, of McKendree M.E. Church. The interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
