Gilbertine W. Wilson, 78, of the 1100 block of Transylvania Ave., a retired
nurse, died June 24, 1992, in a hospital.

Mrs. Wilson was born in South Norfolk. She had retired from the Portsmouth Naval
Hospital after 16 years. She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church, Norfolk,
and its stewardess board; Beulah Temple 4; Daughters of Elks; Naomi Tents 31;
and Les En Fer Mara Nursing Club. She was the widow of Willie R. Wilson.

Survivors include a daughter, Fredia W. Burney of Chesapeake; three sisters,
Elizabeth Hahn and Charlotte Catlin, both of Long Island, N.Y., and Joanna
Alexander of Norfolk; two brothers, Bostick Williams of Chesapeake and Franklin
Williams of Asheville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in St. James A.M.E. Church by the
Rev. William A. Dyson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from
2 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Pretlow Funeral Home, Norfolk, where rites of fraternal
organizations will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. The body will be placed in church
at 11 a.m. Monday. The family will assemble at 1087 Cascade Blvd., Chesapeake,
at noon Monday for the procession.
