Wilson, a native of Cambridge, MA, was the husband of Mrs. Carolyn C. Wilson. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English from Lincoln University, PA, where he also excelled in debating and dramatic arts. He continued work in English and drama at Columbia University and earned a degree of master of Fine Arts from Columbia School of Dramatic Arts. He studied under Dr. Packard at Harvard University. As a young man he joined the English staff of Norfolk State and soon distinguished himself as a producer-director of the one man Drama Department. Students from across Virginia and North Carolina came to Norfolk State to see his productions of Euripides' "Medea," T. S. Eliot's "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs," and Vanes "Outward Bound," and others. Wilson also was recognized for his ability as a makeup artist. Columbia University displayed pictures of his characters in costumes in 1963 at a special dramatic arts festival. Several of his former thespians have gained national prominence in the dramatic and broadcast arts. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and National Council of Teachers of English. Besides his widow, survivors include a son, Stanley William Wilson Jr.; and three brothers. Tennis Wilson of Miami, Alvah Wilson and Clarence Wilson of Cambridge MA. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in The Little Theater of Brown Hall at Norfolk State University. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery after the service. An Omega service will be held tonight at 7:30 in Graves Funeral Home.
