Norfolk Journal and Guide, May 2,1970
Norfolk - General J. Winborne, of 1439 W. 43rd street, received final rites 
Monday in First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point.  Interment followed in Calvary 
Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge.

The Bertie county, NC, native was the husband of Mrs. Mary L. Winborne and a 
son the late Henry and Mrs. Delia Winborne.  He was a member of First Baptist 
Church, Lamberts Point.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gretha May Artis of Norfolk;  four brothers, 
John Winborne of Portsmouth, James Winborne of Orange, NJ, the Rev. Alfred 
Winborne of Plymouth, NC, and Claude Winborne of Asbury, NJ;  five sisters, 
Mrs. Irene Reid and Mrs. Alta Wynn, both of E. Orange, NJ, Mrs. Mary Earley of 
Portsmouth, Mrs. Emma Reid of Montclair, NJ, and Mrs. Estelle Whitaker of 
Newark, NJ;  and one grandchild.
