Winborne, 44, who plunged to his death from the 12th floor to a roof on the second floor of the National Bank of Commerce Tuesday night, will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments by the Rev. Taylor Willis, rector of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Joseph S. Johnston, pastor of Epworth Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. A native of Norfolk, Mr. Winborne was a son of Richard and Mrs. Margaret Warren Winborne and husband of Mrs. Roy Reid Fitchett Winborne. He resided at 7207 Newport Avenue. He received his early education in the Norfolk schools and later attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was associated with his father in the cotton and peanut business after he left the university in the 1930's. As an employee of Winborne & Company, peanut processors, he worked several years in Suffolk. Recently he had been an accountant for Walter C. Maher, a stevedore contractor, with offices in the National Bank of Commerce. Prior to that, he was an accountant employed at the Norfolk & Western Railway Coal Piers. He was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Church. Besides his wife and parents, surviving are one son, Richard Winborne, III and one daughter, Miss Claiborne Reid Winborne, both of Norfolk and two sisters, Mrs. Baker Lee Sears, of Raleigh, N.C. and Mrs. Southgate Leigh, Jr., of Norfolk.
