A funeral service for Grant Winfield Sr., 65, was held Thursday, June 15th, at 
Wheeler’s Funeral Home, Campostella, with the Rev. H. Hudson Bobbitt, pastor of 
First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, officiating. He died Saturday, June 10, in 
a local hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Winfield was born in Surry County, the son of the late Alex and Mrs. Pattie 
Winfield. His widow, Mrs. Hattie Winfield, survives.

He lived in Norfolk for more than 40 years and was retired from the Norfolk and 
Western Railroad after more than 40 years of service.

His survivors, besides his wife, include six sons, three daughters, one sister, 
two brothers, and other relatives.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
