Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, December 27, 1991 
Lucy Ruth Winstead, 84, of the 800 block of Goff St., died Dec. 24, 1991, in a
hospital.

Mrs. Winstead was born in Newark, N.J., and was the widow of Ernest E. Winstead.
She was a member of Temple of Islam.

Survivors include six daughters, Virginia Winstead, Mary Winstead, Catherine
Heyward and Eunice Pitt, all of Norfolk, Ernestine Walton of Indianapolis, Ind.,
and Patricia Winstead of New York City; a stepdaughter, Dora L. Sykes of
Norfolk; four sons, Israel Winstead, Charlie H. Winstead, Harry E. Winstead, all
of Norfolk, and Jesse Winstead of New York; a stepson, Shadrach Winstead of
Wellington, N.C.; three sisters, Clarine Sutton of Norfolk, Marion Linton of
Elmhurst, N.Y., and Ethel Minkeson of Port Washington, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph
Sutton of Rockville Centre, N.Y.; 41 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and
nine great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Hale Funeral Home by Imam
Ali Karriem. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will assemble at
825 Goff St., Apt. 232. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
