H. Mays, 1049 Olney Road, last night at 11:30 o’clock, after a short illness. She was a native of Nash County, N. C., and had resided in Norfolk for 40 years. Surviving are 3 daughters, Mrs. Mays, Mrs. J. G. Middleton and Mrs. H. A. Hunt, all of Norfolk; one son, Lawrence W. Winstead, of Norfolk, and seven grandchildren. The body was removed to the funeral home of James V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne Road. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Mays, 1049 East Olney Road, Monday night, will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o’clock from the funeral home of James V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne Road, by the Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, pastor of Central Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Norfolk Virginian Pilot Friday Sept 25, 1936 Mrs. Mattie Wright Winstead- Funeral services for Mrs. Winstead, who died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Mays, 1049 Olney Road, Monday night, where conducted yesterday after noon at 3:30 o’clock from the funeral home of James V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne Road, by the Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, pastor of Central Baptist Church. There were many floral offerings, the casket being covered with a double spray of roses, lilies, carnations and fern. Mrs. Dabney Hudgins sang “Face to Face,” accompanied on the piano by Miss Margie Hudgins. Pallbearers were McGuire Crowlin, George Crowlin, J. F. Cassell, James inian Pilot Tuesday September 22, 1936Williams, Clarence Vaughan and T. M. Carroll. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
