Wolcott NORFOLK - Janis S. Wolcott, 86, passed away July 6, 2008, at her home in Norfolk. She was a native of Meridian, Miss., and was the daughter of the late Lamarr Towns and Naomi Smith. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. James M. Wolcott as well as their five children, Lamar W. Miller of Atlanta, James M. Wolcott of Norfolk, Nancy W. Bronez of Vienna, Va., Mollie W. McCune and W. Putnam Wolcott, both of Norfolk. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Baylor Miller of Washington, D.C., Press Miller of Charlotte, Peter, Michael, Henry and Anne Bronez of Vienna, Townes Agnew of Norfolk and Sam Wolcott of Richmond. Mrs. Wolcott was a 1943 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women with a B.S. in bacteriology. She was a former bacteriologist at the Charity Hospital, New Orleans, La. She was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Church, Norfolk, and its altar guild. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Robert A. Davenport. A reception will follow at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Altar Guild of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 7400 Hampton Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23505. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
