The Norfolk Landmark January 27, 1884 ************************************************************************** Funeral of Dr. Wm. E. Wood The funeral services of Dr. Wm. E. Wood, late health officer of Norfolk County, took place from his late residence in Berkley, on Liberty Street, Sunday afternoon, and was largely attended. Rev. The Norfolk Landmark January 29, 1884 ************************************************************************** Dr. Wood. - The death of this highly respected physician and citizen, which occurred at his residence Saturday afternoon, was rather unexpected, although premonitions of this sad event were not wanting. He leaves to his family a bereaved widow, three sons and two daughters (all grown), a character of unblemished reputation. Dr. Wood had reached his three score years and ten, and at the time of his death was the efficient health officer of the county. One of his sons, we believe, is a practicing physician in Elizabeth City, another a minister of the Baptist church, and the third, with his two daughters, resided here with him. His remains were borne to their resting place in Magnolia cemetery on Monday afternoon, and quietly laid away in accordance with Masonic ceremonies, of which fraternity he was a most highly respected and esteemed member. To the grief stricken family we tender our sincere condolence.
