Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark July 20, 1914

Mrs. Annie I. Wood, aged 41 years, widow of W.N Wood, died in Baltimore on July 
18. The body will arrive in Norfolk on the Old Bay Line Steamer today and the 
funeral will take place from the Freemason Street Baptist Church this afternoon 
at 3:30 o'clock. Mrs. Wood is survived by a daughter, Mrs. L.C. Eason, two sons, 
W.W. and Lacy Wood of Norfolk and two brothers, E.E. Fuqua and W. Fuqua, the 
latter from Prospect, Va. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Ella Durham 
of Appomattox, Va. Rev. Sparks W. Melton will conduct the services.

 The funeral of Mrs. Annie I. Wood, widow of Walter N. Wood, took place at 3:30 
p.m. yesterday at the Freemason Street Baptist Church, in which she was an 
active worker. Rev. Sparks Melton conducted the services. Handsome flowers were 
in abundance. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery and the pallbearers were J. 
F. Kitterman, A. W. Fairer, E. B. Johnson, Dr. J. J. Miller, W. F. Robertson, M. 
Winston, John Smith, S. G. Page. The body arrived here yesterday morning from 
Baltimore, where she was carried two weeks ago for treatment. She was a native 
of this State, was 41 years old and had lived 25 years in Norfolk, where she 
resided on Olney Road.
Among the flowers was a pillar of roses and carnations presented by Mrs. Wood's 
Sunday School class. Mrs. Ada B. Peak sang two beautiful solos, "The Haven of 
Rest," and "In the Upper Garden."
