A funeral service was held at Queen Street Baptist Church on Thursday for Mrs. 
Esther A. Wood, 66, of 909 Norwood street.

She died at her home Dec. 2.  She was buried in Calvary Cemetery under direction 
of Hale Funeral Home.

A native of Mecklenburg County, VA, Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late Mr. 
and Mrs. Tom Doggette.

In Norfolk 49 years, Mrs. Wood was a member of Queen Street Church, National 
Ideal Benefit Society, the Dorcas Club and North Carolina Missionary Society.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Sharp of Norfolk;  three sisters, 
Mrs. Alice Brown of Philadelphia, Miss Grace Doggette of Pittsburgh and Mrs. 
Elizabeth Ruffin of Duquesne, PA;  three brothers, John Doggette of 
Philadelphia, William Doggette of Brooklyn, and Edward Doggette of Chase City 
VA;  and three grandsons.
