Sadie Virginia Wood, 93, of the 2800 block of Argonne Ave., died Jan. 24, 2004, in 
a local hospital. Mrs. Wood was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was 
the daughter of the late Anthony and Lillian Gregory Greico and the widow of 
Russell Allen Wood. Mrs. Wood was a Roman Catholic. She attended John Goode and 
Ruffner schools.

She is survived by her loving sons, Joseph Wood and his wife Bobbie of Chesapeake, 
Russell Wood and his companion Iva of Norfolk and John Wood and his wife Brenda of 
Virginia Beach; sisters, Louise Whitson and Elsie Canada, both of Grandy, N.C.; 
three grandchildren, Joey Wood, Karen Kornegay and John Wood; four great-
grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, John and Anthony; and her devoted lifetime friend, 
Leonard Hurt.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tuesday 
at noon. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive 
friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 
Norfolk chapel, is handling arrangements.
