Whitehurst, 16 Hardy avenue, after an illness of 10 days. She was taken sick Thursday a week ago, improved slightly, but suffered a second attack or heart trouble Monday. Mrs. Wood was the widow of Dr. William E. Wood, who passed away many years ago and was a daughter of the late Ezekial and Mrs. Emily Dange Trotman, Camden County, N.C., but had spent the greater portion of her life in this city where she was one of the best known ladies and held in the highest esteem. She was an active member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church and one of its most charitable and benevolent. She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Whitehurst, at whose home she died; Mrs. Lindsay M. Silvester of Portsmouth and one son, Charles Wood of Colorado, and was also the mother of the late Rev. T.G. Wood The funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church by Rev. W.R. Flannagan, her pastor, and burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
