WM K WOOD DIED YESTERDAY Well Known Physician of Berkley and Health Officer---Native of N.C. Dr. William K. Wood died yesterday morning at 6:30 o'clock at his residence, 411 Chestnut street, after an extreme illness of typhoid fever lasting a week. He had been complaining several weeks before taking (to) his bed, but continued to respond to the calls that came from his patients until his illness forbid. He was 32 years old last September, and is survived by a widow, a son, W.K. Wood, Jr., a mother, Mrs. Jonathan Wood, two sisters and a brother, the latter of Centerville, Norfolk County. He was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., but came to this state in infancy with his parents and resided at Centerville until he moved to Berkley about six years ago. Dr. Wood was a graduate of Baltimore Medical College completing the course before he was 21 years old and practiced in the county five years and since that time pursued his profession in Berkley, having built up a large practice and made a host of friends. He was assistant health officer to Dr. Dupuy for Berkley ward, which position he had held since Berkley became a part of the city. He was also health officer for Berkley when it was an independent town. Dr. Wood was a Mason, a member of Doric Lodge No. 44 this city. From the first of his illness it was evident that his condition was most critical and the best medical attention was given. Dr. Dupuy and Dr. Sleet were in regular attendance and quite a number of the leading physicians of the city were called in consultation from time to time. He also had two nurses in attendance all the while. The funeral will be conducted from the residence Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with Rev. C.S. Lingamfelter, pastor of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, and Rev. W.A. Smith, pastor of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
