The Virginian Pilot November 22, 1956
Raleigh Benton Wood, 74, husband of Mrs. May Whitehurst Wood and son of the 
late Joseph W. and Mrs. Mary Ives Wood, a native of Princess Anne County and a 
lifelong resident of this section, died yesterday at 3 a.m. at the residence 
712 W. Princess Anne Rd. He was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Vernon Mante and Miss 
Margaret Wood, of Norfolk; two brothers, Fletcher W. Wood, of Princess Anne 
County, and Nuna Wood, of Norfolk, and two sisters, Mrs. R.E. Holt and Miss Ada 
A. Wood, both of South Norfolk.
Services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 3 
p.m. by the Rev. Dr. Harold A. Malmberg, pastor of Freemason Street Baptist 
Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
