Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, January 15, 1991 
James Edward Woodard of the 1000 block of Albert Ave., a retired longshoreman,
died Jan. 12, 1991, in a hospital.

Mr. Woodard, a Norfolk native, was a member of International Longshoreman's
Association, Local 1248. He was a former manager of Dock's Grill. He was a World
War II veteran and a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Arlethia Jones Woodard; two daughters, Janet L.
Bates of Chesapeake and Jane W. Goss of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hale Funeral Home by the
Rev. Joseph E. Lamb Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Family and friends
will assemble at the residence for the procession.
