Norfolk - Charles H. Woodard of 738 Johnson avenue died recently in a local 
hospital after a long illness.  A native of Portsmouth, he was a son of the late 
Henry and Mrs. Annie Louise Woodard and the husband of Mrs. Mary Woodard.

He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an electrician’s helper after 26 
years.  He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Rising Sun Masonic Lodge 2, 
National Ideal Beneficial Lodge, and Queen of Norfolk Lodge 2112.
Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Effie L. Colden of Baltimore 
and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Graves Funeral Home by the 
Rev. Joseph Green.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
