Mary Venuto Woodard, 77, of the 8100 block of Tidal Road, died Feb. 20, 1998, in a 
local hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Woodard was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was the daughter 
of the late Joseph and Katie Constantino Venuto. She was preceded in death by her 
sisters, Catherine V. Zingraff and Angie V. Fitzpatrick. She and her husband 
formed Woodard Realty over 40 years ago and were charter members of the MLS. Mrs. 
Woodard was a Roman Catholic and a graduate of Holy Trinity High School.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, John J. Woodard Sr.; a daughter, Mary 
Joan Woodard of Norfolk; two sons, John J. Woodard Jr., and his wife, Joanna, of 
Norfolk, and Arthur J. Woodard and his wife, Debra, of Virginia Beach; three 
sisters, Josephine V. Zingraff of Virginia Beach, Lucille V. Jones and her 
husband, Robert, of Virginia Beach, and Cecilia V. Giefer of Norfolk; a brother, 
Joseph Venuto and his wife, Audrey, of Norfolk; and four precious grandchildren, 
John J. Woodard III, Carol Lynn Woodard, Jennifer Ann Woodard and Ryan Joseph 
Woodard; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. 
Gregory the Great Catholic Church by the Rev. Father John Peck, OSB. Burial will 
be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

A Christian Wake Service will be held in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, at 7 
p.m Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or 
Catholic High School, Virginia Beach, Va.
