He was a native of Norfolk and had lived there 45 years. Mr. Woodard, who was a vice president of Seaboard Citizens National from 1936- 1942, had retired as vice president of Century Furniture Co., Hickory, N.C., after 35 years. He was an Army captain during World War II. He was a 1924 graduate of Episcopal High School, where he was a head monitor, and attended the University of Virginia. He was a former member of Norfolk Yacht and Country club and the Lions Club. He was an Episcopalian and a member of Church of the Ascension of Hickory. Survivors include his wife Margaret Pope Woodard; a daughter Peggy Woodard of Virginia Beach; two sons, James Pope Woodard of Virginia Beach and Ernest Linwood Woodard Jr. of Norfolk; and three grandchildren. The graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk, with H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s disease and Related Disorders Association of Hampton Roads Inc., 130 Colley Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23517.
