WOODASON SR. VIRGINIA BEACH - James Joseph Woodason Sr., 79, of 813 Virginia Ave., died Saturday in a hospital. He was a native of Bronx, N.Y., and the husband of Adelene Hitt Woodason. Mr. Woodason, who lived here 35 years, had retired in 1950 from the New York Police Department and later managed the Atlantic Avenue A.B.C. Store, from which he retired in 1970. He was a lifetime member of Virginia Beach Moose Lodge 1998. Other survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth M. Hope of Congers, N.Y.; two sons, James J. Woodason Jr. of Queens, N.Y., and Joseph M. Woodason of Brentwood, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Roy R. Jackson. The family will be at Maestas Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
