A native of Mecklenburg county, he was the husband of Mrs. Pearlie M. Wooden and a son of the late Moses Wooden Sr., and Mrs. Monnie B. Wooden. He worked for Norfolk & Western Railway Coal Piers 45 years and retired in 1961. He was a deacon of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, spiritual advisor of the Gospel Chorus, and member of St. Luke’s Lodge. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lula Cornish of New York; a brother, Moses Wooden Jr., of Norfolk and a sister, Mrs. Cora Lee of Chesapeake. The body was taken to Hale Funeral Home.
