The Virginian Pilot Thursday January 2, 1958
John S. Woodhouse, 67, husband of Mrs. Nellie Mae Shipp Woodhouse of 3508 
Westminster Ave., died Tuesday at midnight in a Norfolk hospital after an 
illness of 18 months.
A native of Princess Anne County, he had lived in this area the last 25 
years. He was the son of Josiah and Mrs. Martha A. Carraway Woodhouse. He 
was a member of the Christadelphian Church.
Besides his wife, surviving are eight sisters, Mrs. Allen Dawley, Mrs. Olive 
Smith, Mrs. Anne Bowman and Mrs. Lillie Snyder, all of Norfolk; Mrs. Mary 
Leach of Gainesville, Fla.; Mrs. Henrietta Cox of Port Arthur, Tex.; Mrs. 
Louise Norfleet of Belhaven, Mrs. Lila Gabbitas of the Persian Gulf, and 
three brothers, Mckinley W. Woodhouse of Princess Anne County, Howard R. 
Woodhouse and Teddy R. Woodhouse, both of Norfolk.
The body was taken to the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, where funeral 
services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
