Wooding Jr., 76, of the 2800 block of Myrtle Ave. died peacefully Tuesday morning, June 29, 1999, at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Norfolk and the son of Clinton H. Sr. and Mary Morris Wooding. He was the husband of Miriam J. Wooding. Dr. Wooding was one of Tidewater's foremost pediatricians and practiced in the area for more than 40 years, primarily in Portsmouth. He was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church and as a youngster sang in the Boys' Choir and was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 70 at the church. He also served with dedication for several years as a trustee, a member of the Men's Club and on the Vestry. Dr. Wooding was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1939. He did undergraduate studies at Dillard University and graduated from Hampton Institute, now University, Class of 1943. He received his M.D. degree from Howard University Medical School, Class of 1947. Active in the community, Dr. Wooding served as a board member of Norfolk Community Hospital and was a member of the Norfolk Medical Society, the Old Dominion Medical Society and the National Medical Society. He was a life member of the NAACP and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife of 54 years, Miriam of the home; a daughter, Angela W. King and her husband, Tony; a son, Clinton H. Wooding III; and three granddaughters, Nacole, Alexandra and Whitney King. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church, 1400 E. Brambleton Ave., by the Rev. Fr. Harold J. Cobb DD. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home followed at 7 p.m. by a memorial service held by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity at the funeral home.
