Rev. V. V. K. Stokes officiated. Mr. Wright had been a member of that church since childhood. Rev. Stokes spoke touchingly from the subject “One Step” The societies of which he was a member exemplified the high character of Mr. Wright. He was a loyal Mason, faithful 400, and was one of the first young men to join the Sons of Norfolk. Mr. Wright prepared for his spiritual as well as temporal needs. The male choir of the church, of which he was vice-president, rendered his favorite hymns. Among these was the “Old Rugged Cross”which was most touchingly sung. Representative from the Elk’s chorus, Mrs. Rotelia Perkins sang, as gifted from above “Just a Little While.” She was accompanied by a very dear friend of the deceased, Prof. Robert Wilson. The representative from the Masons sang “I Have Done My Work.” Mr. N. A. Bailey, his employer, Messrs. Eason and Griffin, of the firm of Smith and Welton, were present. Mr. Wright had for several years been employed by and considered one of the best by them. Because of the extra large number attending the funeral and the limited capacity of the church, many of Mr. Wright’s friends had to be left on the outside on account of the lack of space. These show the esteem in which he was held. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, one child, parents, one sister, grandmother and a host of relatives and friends.
