Wroton, in the 22d year of his age. Remains have been taken to Paul B. Warren Funeral Home, 362 W Princess Anne Road. Wroton made his home at 317 W Thirteenth Street, where he is survived by his wife, Nettie L. Wroton and a baby son. Other survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Wroton, of Norfolk; three brothers, Norman, Arthur and Robert Wroton, of this city, and his grandmother, Mrs. Annie Capps, of Princess Anne County. Cornelius Aubrey Wroton, 22-year old grave digger, was fatally wounded shortly after 6 o'clock last night in an attempted hold-up on Vermont Street near the Pulaski Street intersection. Elmorris Mitchell, alias Lukie Mitchell, 24, colored, is being held in jail on charges ranging from murder to petty larceny as the result of a half-hour orgy in which he is alleged to have killed one man, wounded another, bitten the finger of a third, snatched a pair of shoes from the hands of a colored woman and himself was shot in the hand. Police said Mitchell "apparently" had been drinking. Wroton and a fellow workman, E. E. Baublitz, of 320 Maltby Avenue, had just finished an overtime assignment to prepare a double grave at Elmwood Cemetery, and were walking along Vermont Street when a Negro held them up at the point and were walking along Vermont Street when a Negro held them up at the point of a pistol. Baublitz, who is slightly deaf, said he heard the Negro say, "give me your money," to which Wroton responded, "I haven't any." Baublitz told police that the Negro then fired twice at Wroton's feet and when the latter attempted to run away three more shots were fired at short range into his chest. The wounded man was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital where he died shortly after on the operating table.
