Mrs. Yerby was born in Norfolk and had retired from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after 20 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, the Open Door and Ghent Venture. Survivors include her husband, Charles M. Yerby; two daughters, Nancy Y. Inman, of Norfolk, and Judy Y. Burke, of Irvinton, N.Y.; two sons, Charles M. Yerby, III, of Charlotte, N.C., and John L. Yerby, of Irvine, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral Mass will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. John J. Dorgan. Burial will be private. Friends may join the family in the church after the service.
