Mabel Lawler Yerby, 74, of the 900 block of Woodrow Ave., a retired laboratory 
secretary, died Oct. 22, 1992, in her home.

Mrs. Yerby was born in Norfolk and had retired from Sentara Norfolk General 
Hospital after 20 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was 
a volunteer at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, the Open Door and 
Ghent Venture.

Survivors include her husband, Charles M. Yerby; two daughters, Nancy Y. Inman, of 
Norfolk, and Judy Y. Burke, of Irvinton, N.Y.; two sons, Charles M. Yerby, III, of 
Charlotte, N.C., and John L. Yerby, of Irvine, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and five 
great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church by the Rev. John J. Dorgan. Burial will be private. Friends may join the 
family in the church after the service. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk 
Chapel, is handling arrangements.
