John C. Young, 73, of the 1000 block of Marietta Ave., died May 3, 1993, in DePaul 
Medical Center.

He died surrounded by love, peace, song and some of his loved ones: his wife, 
Marie G. Young; his daughters, Margie Young-Taylor of Richmond and Antoinette S. 
Young of Alexandria, Va.; and two of his sisters, Cleo Henderson Artybridge and 
Gertrude Avery, both of Norfolk.

Mr. Young was born in Washington, D.C., and was retired from the Norfolk Naval 
Supply Center as a computer technician. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He 
was a member of Oakwood Chapel Church Disciples of Christ and the Male Usher 
Board.

In addition to the family listed above, Mr. Young is survived by a sister, Hattie 
Artybridge of Norfolk; two brothers, John Henderson of Henderson, N.C., and James 
Henry Plummer Young of Norfolk; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Henderson and Jean 
Golden; three brothers-in-law, Clifton Artybridge, James Avery and John Golden; 
and other relatives.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Oakwood Chapel Church, 982 
Avenue E, by the Rev. Clifford White. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery 
Mausoleum, Norfolk. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The body will be 
taken to church at 10 a.m. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the 
church for services. The family will be at 1018 Marietta Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Oakwood 
Chapel Church.
