Oliver Funeral Apartments August, 2022 Jarrett Holt Zoby, 77, passed peacefully on August 13, 2022, in her home. She was born in Norfolk to the late Leslie and Margaret Mayes Holt and was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Ronald Anthony Zoby, and her brother, L.E. Holt. Left to cherish her memory: her daughter, Michelle Payne and her husband, Russell, her granddaughters, Taryn Payne (Jack) and Marisa, her sister, Gloria Holt Geniesse (Bill), her brother, Steve Holt (Sue), her sisters-in-law, Joan Christie (Butch), Ann Zoby, Barbara Zoby (Dr. Sture Sigfred), her loving caregiver and friend of 27 years, Filomena Dukette, her nieces, nephews and some great friends. She was a dental hygienist for many years before becoming paralyzed. Although being in a wheelchair brought her many struggles, she handled them with strength and dignity. She continued her education at ODU and earned a degree in chemistry. She was a very bright woman and used her skills to tutor students in math and science, work in the lab at VBGH, and gave her time to help others at the Endependence Center. She loved being able to go to Nags Head and Key West with family and friends. In the last years of her life, she was able to connect and develop a relationship with Catherine Bonner Kernels (Mike), the daughter she and Ronald had to give up 59 years ago; this brought her comfort and peace. There will be a prayer service conducted at 5:00 pm on Sunday August 21, in the Norfolk Chapel of HD Oliver Funeral Apartments. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be offered to the family at hdoliver.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to Peter Decker Children’s Charities at peterdeckercharity.com or the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad at www.vbvrs.org. We would like to thank Penny, Fidelia, Lydia, Rose and Afsaneh for taking such good care of her over the last few years.
