Will of Neale Doherty
Made November 8, 1722; Proved August 18, 1725 
Northumberland County, Va
Record Book No. 16, pgs 578-579, 1718-1725

In the name of God Amen, I Neal Doherty of Northumberland Co., in Virginia 
being in good health of body and of sound and perfect mind and memory 
(praise be therefor given to almighty God) do make and ordain this my 
present last will and testament in manner and form following:

1st, I give and bequeath to my son John Doherety (sic) and his heirs forever 
this piece of land whereon I now live containing to 50 acres and 2 head of 
cattle and my great gun.

Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my son James Doherty and his heirs 
forever my plantation at the head of Preslys Creek containing my estimation 
50 acres, provided that the said James shall not molest nor in any case 
hinder my daughters Ealsa, Mary, Ann and Elizabeth Doherty from working and 
making crops of Tob. and corn on the said plantation during their single 
life.

Thirdly, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ealse Doherty one bed and 
furniture thereunto belonging.

Fourthly, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Doherty one bed and 
furniture thereunto belonging.

Fiftly and lastly, I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Ann Doherty 
the use of all the remaining part of my personal estate during her widowhood 
and at the expiration of her widowhood or life to be equally divided among 
all my children and I do hereby make, ordain and constitute and appoint my 
true and well beloved wife the said Ann Doherty to be my sole executrix of 
this my last will and testament.
