Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. **************************************************************** In the Name of God Amen I Isaac Hurst of the County of Northumberland and Parish of Wiccocomoco being Sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and Memory do make and ordain This my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say Imprimis, I commend my Soul unto the hands of God who gave it hoping and assuredly believing thro the only merits of Jesus Christ of pardon for all my Sins and to be made partaker of life everlasting and my body to the earth whereof it was made, to be decently buried by my Executors hereafter named and for what worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath as followeth Item I give and bequeath unto my Loving wife Winny Hurst the use of my whole Estate both real and personal to Her During Her widowhood and in case she should marry another Husband Then I gives her only what the Law allows her - Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Betsy Hurst three negros Viz. Rachel Ledy & Joe to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Kemp Hurst the Land I now Live on after the Death of his mother to him and The Heirs of his body Lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and Bequeath unto my Son Isaac Hurst the Plantation which James Sutton now lives in which he has a Lease for which will Expire in December one Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty five To him and his heirs forever. Item I give and Bequeath all the rest of my Estate not before given after the Death of my Loving wife Winny Hurst or her marrying another Husband to be Equally divided Between my three Children Kemp Hurst, Isaac Hurst and Besty Hurst to them and their Heirs forever. Lastly I appoint my Loving wife Winney Hurst Executrix my Brother Thomas Hurst and my Friend Colo. Thomas Gaskins Jun.r Executors of this my Last will and Testament hereby revoking all others by me made as Witness my hand and Seal this 27th Day of October one Thousand seven Hundred And Eighty three - Isaac Hurst (S. Signed, Sealed and acknowledged as the Last Will of the Testator in presence of us George Dameron Barth.m Dameron Jesse Crowder The Following is a Codicel to my will & may be considered as a part thereof (or Explanary of my Last Will & Testament) It is my will & Desire that If either of my Children Betsy Hurst or Isaac Hurst die before they come to Lawfull age or marriage that then their part which I have bequeathed them be equally divided among my surviving children I also appoint my son Kemp Hurst, Together with those I have already appointed to be Exors. of this my Last will & Testament. Witness my hand & Seale this 14th January 1786 Isaac Hurst (S.S.) Signed Sealed & acknowledged In presence of Thos. Gaskins. Thos. Hurst At a court held for Northumberland County the 8th day of January 1787 This last will and Testament of Isaac Hurst deced. Together with a Codicil thereto annexed was produced in Court and the Same being proved by the oaths of George Dameron Bartholomew Dameron and Thomas Hurst three of the witnesses thereto was ordered to be recorded and at a nother Court held for the said County the 11th day of June 1787 Winny Hurst the Executrix therein named came into Court and made oath thereto according to Law and giving Security a Certificate is granted her for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
